Chemistry Association Activities
Chemistry Association Inauguration for the academic year 2016-2017was held on 24th August 2016 at 3:30 PM at V.M.A Hall. Dr. Sheelakumari Isacc was the Chief Guest for the occasion.
The program commenced with a prayer song by Ms.Keerthana G. Menon (II B.Sc. Chemistry). Welcome address was delivered by Dr. P.V.Sreenivasan (HOD, Chemistry) followed by the Inaugural address by the Chief Guest Dr. Sheelakumari Isacc. There was a solo song by Mr.Rakesh S. Kumar (II B.Sc. Chemistry). The vote of Thanks was delivered by the Association Secretary Anandhu Mohan (III B.Sc. Chemistry). All the undergraduate and postgraduate students and Faculty of Chemistry department attended the function.
LAVOISIER 2K16 (Freshers day ) was conducted on the same day. It was filled with cultural activities of students.
Career Guidance Programme for V Sem B.Sc. Chemistry Students
Prof. P.Unnikrishnan, Vice Principal, School of Emirates, Sharjah conducted Orientation Program for V semester B.Sc. chemistry Students in July 2016.
Onam Competition
In connection with college Onam celebration which was conducted on 23rd September 2016, Chemistry department won first prize in Onappookalam competition and reached up to the semi-finals of tug of war for both boys and girls. And the whole Department celebrated the occasion cordially with a feast.
Light Music Competition
Dr. A M Chacko endowment Inter departmental Light Music Competition was conducted on 3rd November 2016 at 3.00pm. Students from various departments participated in the competition. The winners in the male and female category were Ms. Keerthana G Menon and Mr. Rakesh S Kumar.
Quiz Competition
InterCollegiate Quiz Competition was organized by the Department on January 27, 2017, at T.B Ninan Seminar Hall. Eight teams of two members each from various colleges participated in the competition. A Preliminary round was conducted to select four teams for the final quiz competition. Prof. Dr. P V Sreenivasan was the Quizmaster. U. C College team(Ms.Akhila S S, Ms.Sadiya P S) secured the first place. Second place was for the team members from Devamatha College, Kuravilangad(Mr.Robin John, Mr. Joyal Joshy). A valedictory function was organized after the quiz competition.Prizes were distributed by the principal during the function. The Jubilee Ever-rolling Trophee was handed over by the Principal to the winners.
Seminar
Prof. T.R Anantharaman memorial & and Dr. A M Chacko Endowment lectures were organized on January 20, 2017 at T. B Ninan Hall. The Seminar started with an Inaugural Session presided over by the Principal. Prof. T.R Anantharaman memorial lecture was given by Dr. K.P Unnikrishnan, Associate Professor Retd., Department of Chemistry, U.C College, Aluva on the topic “Food- What and Whatnot”. Dr. Ramakrishnan S, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, S.H College, Thevara delivered a talk on the topic “Porphyrins- The pigments of Life” in the Afternoon Session. Students from our college and nearby colleges participated in the seminar.
Chemistry day
The Chemistry day was celebrated on 24th February 2017. The program started with an inaugural session presided over by the HOD of chemistry, Dr. P V Sreenivasan. The student secretary Mr. Ananthu Mohan presented the association report. Prizes for the light music competition was distributed to the winners. Dr. P V Sreenivasan, H.O.D, Chemistry who was retiring from service was presented with a memento as a token of love by the students. This was followed by the cultural programs by teachers and students of the department.
