Academic seminars/ conferences and other details of extension programmes conceived/ executed
- Prof. T.R Anantharaman memorial & and Dr. A M Chacko Endowment lectures were organised on January 20,2017 at T. B Ninan Hall. The Seminar started with an Inaugural Session presided over by the Principal. Prof. T.R Anantharaman memorial lecture was given by Dr. K.P Unnikrishnan, Associate Professor Retd., Department of Chemistry, U.C College, Aluva on the topic “Food- What and What not”. Dr. Ramakrishnan S, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, S.H College, Thevara delivered a talk on the topic “Porphyrins- The pigments of Life” in the Afternoon Session. Students from our college and nearby colleges participated in the seminar.
- InterCollegiate Quiz Competition was organised by the Department on January 27, 2017 at T.B Ninan Seminar Hall. Eight teams consisting of two members each from various colleges participated in the competition. A Preliminary round was conducted to select four teams for the final quiz competition. Prof. Dr. P V Sreenivasan was the Quiz master. U. C College team(Ms.Akhila S S, Ms.Sadiya P S) secured the first place. Second place was for the team members from Devamatha College, Kuravilangad(Mr.Robin John,Mr. Joyal Joshy). A valedictory function was organised after the quiz competition .Prizes were distributed by the principal during the function. The Jubilee Ever-rolling Trophee was handed over by the Principal to the winners.
- Prof. T. Anatharaman Memorial & Dr. A.M. Chacko endowment seminars were conducted on 17 January 2015. Dr. Dona Mathew, Scientist SG and Head, Advanced Polymers and Ablative section, Polymers and Speciality Chemicals, VSSC delivered a talk on “ Non metallic materials for space Applications” during the forenoon session followed by a talk on “Photocatalysis “ by Prof. Dr. Suresh Mathew, Director, School of Chemical Sciences, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.
- Inter collegiate Chemistry Quiz competition were conducted on 24th Jan2015. Shiyana Rahim and reshma Bose from Union Christian College were the winners of the competition. Second prize was awarded to Sacred Heart College, Thevara team and third prize was awrded to Bharatmata College team while M.A College Kothamangalam also participated in the competition.
- B.Sc. chemistry department students attended an awareness Programme on Organ Donation conducted by Nimya Catherin Joy of Samaritan College of Nursing, Pazhanganad
